Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which casino gaming is banned. Eight casinos are situated in a generally small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect destination, a 3 to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, funding sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked boat casino, contains one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred one armed bandits and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and sixty six of the familiar gaming tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive resort and hotel complex that highlights a number of luxuries accompanying the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 table games.
